Participants will understand: a) the process of designing and installing a septic system; b) the importance of site conditions; c) types of systems – tanks and drainfields; d) how a system functions; e)relationship with water wells and public health considerations; f) basic operation and maintenance practices; g) signs of a malfunctioning system; h) what a system inspection should cover; i) repair options; j) economic and timing considerations; and k) the Bay Restoration Fund and process.
