New Member Orientation

All new Primary REALTOR® members of the Coastal Association of REALTORS® are required to attend and successfully complete a New Member Orientation program as a condition of membership. The orientation is designed to familiarize new members with the purpose, structure, policies, programs, and services of the Association; the responsibilities and benefits of REALTOR® membership; the REALTOR® Code of Ethics; and the member’s obligations to the Association, the real estate profession, and the public.

Attendance at New Member Orientation is a mandatory membership requirement established by the Association’s Bylaws and consistent with the membership requirements of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). New members are expected to complete the orientation within 6 months of membership.

A member who fails to satisfy the New Member Orientation requirement within the prescribed timeframe may be declared ineligible for the services, facilities, programs, and other benefits provided by the Association until the requirement has been fulfilled, in accordance with the Association’s Bylaws and applicable NAR policies.

Applicants who have previously held membership in the Coastal Association of REALTORS® are exempt from attending New Member Orientation if they held membership in the Association within the three (3) years immediately preceding the date of their current application for membership. The Association may require documentation of prior membership when determining eligibility for this exemption.

New Member Orientation is an important component of membership and is intended to ensure that every REALTOR® member understands the professional standards, resources, responsibilities, and opportunities associated with membership in the Coastal Association of REALTORS® and the REALTOR® organization.
